My childhood began in a tiny, unique suburban style town called Westchester. Set in beautiful New York. New York. Raised by my fabulous parents. We had everything you need right in town with a train station to take you to the city in 45 minutes. Later, in 1998, we moved to South Florida, where I still currently reside. A suburban paradise to many that span the globe, but to me it has a different kind of perfection to it. You really need to be here to understand it.
I dedicated 20 years to the service industry; 12 years in the kitchens and the remaining 8 years in the front-of-the-house. The restaurant life is exactly what you think it is… extremely long hours, wild chefs, servers hustling hard, and ohhh the customers. Blood, sweat, and plenty of tears. A real rush! This whole experience shaped me into the rock I am today. I have become this strong willed person, where I believe I can tackle most extreme situations. Would I change it? I like to think not. PTSD? Haha, maybe. Though does it really matter? Self acceptance is key in this matter. Do not get me wrong, I am very proud of my achievements in my field. Yet, I can’t help that there is something different for me now.
Many ask me, “…then what do you want?”. A million dollars, haw-haw-haw!! What I can tell you is a million things I want to achieve, or places to visit, or even things I want. The truth is I can’t tell you who I am right now; floating along like the rest of you. Honestly, that’s ok right now. This is a gift you see. I have been given the gift of self discovery. It’s my task now.
Who hasn’t has the itch to go travel? I know I have! Had it since childhood– the chance to explore the places beyond. I want to be on the move and go explore the world. So why haven’t I done so, huh? Again, I spent half my life to food service, which in turn I choose to stay local. Plain & simple decision. Now is time for a new one. Choosing to pursue different passions, whether new or old, but still harnessing the Arts.
